I'm considering 3 different gauges for my car this summer . . . oil
pressure, oil temp, and volts.

I'm guessing that a 300*F oil temp gauge should suffice (vs. a 320*F
gauge). However, I have no idea what normal oil pressure is for
a VR6. www.egauges.com lists several choices (80, 100, & 150psi).
Which pressure range is adequate? They only list one voltmeter,
so I'll go with that -- easy choice. :)

Will an electrical version of each gauge work well (i.e.,
vs. mechanical)? The voltmeter is electrical only.

They have universal wiring kits for ~12 each (1 kit for each gauge).

I just need to figure out what type of sender I'll need for the temp
and pressure, which is dictated by what "normal" temp and pressure
readings are (i.e., ~220*F oil temp . . . no idea for pressure).
Then, I need to get the sender bushing kit -- no problem there.

Lastly, I think I have to figure out what type of adapter(s), if any,
are required as well as the proper Ohm range for each gauge. Oil temp
and pressure list two ranges: VDO Ohm range and U.S. Ohm range.

Anyone have any ideas that can help me out? I'll worry about
installation later . . . that's a whole other story. :)

I find that my 150psi Oil Pressure gauge is a bit high. I would go for 100
if I had to do it again. Oil pressure on mine is usually between 30 (slow,
city driving) to ~65 (freeway speeds). If you floor it, the pressure will
go up to about 90 (I think - I'm usually watching the road, not the gauge!).
I have the electrical sender - mine is a VDO. As far as the senders go, VDO
sells different ones for different maximum pressures. IE: 80psi sender,
100psi sender, and 150psi sender. No need to worry about the proper ohm
range on them - it's already been done - just hook it up to your gauges.

They have a dual terminal sender - this is what you would want to use. It
just replaces the existing unit on top of the oil filter housing. One goes
to your gauge, the other is for the idiot light in the dash. Only problem
is it's a bitch to get access to the top of the oil filter housing to
install it. I ponied up the cash and had someone do it for me. This is for
the oil pressure only - I'm not sure what they have for oil temp, but I
would imagine it would be the same (different sender for different max
temp).

Hope this helps!

Oh yeah, on the Voltmeter, all you have to do is hook it up to a wire that
gets power all the time and one that gets switched with the ignition. IIRC,
they hooked mine up inline with the cigarette lighter - I don't remember
where the switched power is coming from.

The pressure senders come in two Ohm ranges -- I just checked again.
They have, for instance, 100psi US Ohm range and 100psi VDO Ohm range.
See what I mean at www.egauges.com under the VDO Vision set...

Thanks for the other info, too. :)

Whew, I was wondering about that. My guage usually reads about the
same. I think mine is a 150 though, thats what had me wondering why the
needle is always in the lower half. =)

OIC. You can get either US or VDO ohm ranges for the gauges and for the
sender. I looked mine up and it's a VDO ohm range 150psi sender. Gauge is
a Cockpit White 150psi (pn 350-240).
