gkoliopoulos,

have you thought of purchasing a Scorpion exhaust system. The system is
comprised of complete stainless steel and available in 2 1/4" and 2 1/2"
diameters with dual DTM tips. I am currently running the 2 1/2" system
with dual DTM tips in my '97 Jetta GLX, I purchased it from Denon Part
Inc. In addition to cat-back systems, I think muffler only systems can
also be purchased.

Hope this helps,

David Kim

What about a Scorpion Exhaust?

Here what a fellow list member had to say about them:

"Gkoliopoulos,

the Scorpion stainless steel exhaust system seems top notch. The welds
look very taut and clean. The warranty I believe is lifetime. I
recommend the 2 1/2" system if you plan on putting in some aftermarket
cams, p&p head, or intake manifold in the future. The difference in cost
is not that much,

                                2 1/2" -- $580.00
                                2 1/4" -- $517.00

the only other difference between the two systems is that the 2 1/2"
system has polished mufflers/resonators. Contact Ron Johnson of Denon
Performance Inc. at (888) 468-0688. The Scorpions for the GTi's have been out
for a while and I have not heard of any problems.........."

I replied to the sender. So as not to take of banwith. But here is what
I said.

    Mark

I have a Scorpion Cat back unit on my vr6 Gti. It cost me $589.00 Plus
$50.00 to install. I love it.

It has a different growl. On a Vr6 Golf it sounds a lot like a Porsche.
Turbo. The sound you asked about

Well yes it is there. But it is not that loud. If any thing. It is in the
lower frequencys. The only Prob. is if you go
on long trips like 100 miles our more it will put you to sleep. kinda like a
mom doing Humm to a baby.

It helped a lot off the line. Top end also. I would do it all over
again. JUST MAKE SURE IT FITS RIGHT.

Don't let it touch the Axel. or you will hate it.

Imagine that! A Supersprint, or Scorpion exhaust not fitting correctly.
Just to set the record straight for you guys out there...Those exhausts
were NEVER designed to fit your car! They were specifically designed to
fit EUROPEAN cars. That is why it fits incorrectly. Those companies
don't R/D for American cars. Our bumpers aren't the same, among other
things. If you want stuff that fits try american designed stuff, ie;
Neuspeed, Autotech. If you still want a Supersprint or Scorpion, then go
get yourself European bumpers. I saw them at Waterfest on the Eurotech
GTi, so I'm sure they can get them for you. So, don't be so surprised
when something that was never designed for your car doesn't fit right.

Peace out,

Mark
